I-5 BRIDGE LIFT OPERATIONS TURNED OVER TO WHO SONG AND LARRY'S EMPLOYEES

Who Song and Larry's customer
Gunston Jubbles of Vancouver
plays with bridge lift remote while
enjoying a beer on the restaurant's patio

CRITICS ACKNOWLEDGE PLAN COSTS LESS BUT CLAIM DRUNK CUSTOMERS KEEP GETTING AHOLD OF THE REMOTE CONTROL

"It's a big money saver.  Who Songs has a great view of the river, so we give them a remote control and the employees raise the bridge when necessary.  The restaurant makes a few bucks and we eliminate a full-time position.  On the downside, we've had four unauthorized bridge lifts due to intoxicated customers getting ahold of the remote."
ODOT Bridge Supervisor Hurley McFicklin
